Scientific French
Target audience
These courses are designed for students or professionals with a scientific background who want to increase their French knowledge in different scientific fields.
Teaching
These courses are exclusively designed for students who have a good command of the French language (400 hours minimum) and who have the knowledge equivalent to at least two university semesters of study in this field.
Organisation
25 course hours per week from Monday to Friday organised as follows:
- General French courses: 20 hours. At all levels, the course's aim is to develop different means of written and oral comprehension and expression and to learn about French culture.
- Specialised French courses: 3 hours. The course's aim is to make the students aware of the recurrent linguistic forms in scientific language (designation, denomination, definition, characterisation, quantification, logical reasoning etc.).
- Science courses: 2 hours. These workshops prepare the trainees, regardless of their specialisation field, for university tasks like course comprehension, speaking in public, speed-reading and presentations in such a way that they acquire the terminology and language structures specific to science. Guided tours of scientific and industrial establishments in the Grenoble region will be organised.

Work on specialised CD-ROMs.
Levels
The CUEF offers three levels in accordance with those defined by the Council of Europe:
- B1: Threshold
- B2: Vantage
- C1: Effective Operational Proficiency
Level Tests
The first day of the course, tests are organised to properly place each student into a group that corresponds to their language level.
Transcripts
A detailed transcript of the courses followed will be delivered upon completion of the course.
